The Gail Wynne Ceramics, Sculpture, and Printmaking Studios

Beginning Ceramics is an introduction to the basics and wish to further develop their skills on the potter's wheel. Students will create both functional and non-functional work.

Advanced Ceramics is for students who have taken beginning ceramics and wish to further develop their skills on the potter's wheel with hand building techniques.

Exploring Three-Dimensional Design introduces students to the concepts and techniques of sculptural design. Students work in a variety of materials including but not limited to paper, plaster, wire, wood, clay, metal, and glass. Work is completed from observational points of departure as well as non-objective design. Both additive and reductive processes are explored.

Advanced Sculpture is for students who have taken beginning sculpture or three-dimensional design and wish to further develop their skills. A variety of materials will be used to further explore the breadth of three-dimensional materials and concepts. The historical context from relief to current installations will be considered.

Printmaking is designed for beginning to advanced students who will learn several types of printmaking techniques, including mono-print, linotype, calligraphy, and intaglio. Students will develop their personal imagery while learning basic concepts of design and color. Evaluation is based on the individual student's progress in developing printmaking skills and solving problems independently.

Exploring Design examines a variety of art techniques and materials. There will be an emphasis on developing visual literacy and imagination. Students will learn the basics of design, color theory, and rendering skills. They will work in a variety of materials including but not limited to pencil, charcoal, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, printing ink, and collage.
